A note from the artist:

'River Abstracts' is an awe-inspiring collection of  photographic works by Alexander Rowan, showcasing the magnificent Pjorsa River of Southern Iceland.

'After 20 years I wanted my first exhibition to be of a place few people had ever seen, heard, or explored before; somewhere undiscovered. A place of ineffable beauty you wouldn’t believe to be true unless you witnessed it with your own eyes.

The Pjorsa River is one such place to me. It’s shores transform in shape, color and form like an endless song as the river dances to its end where it enters the sea.

To this day I have never seen another person roam here, and like a pilgrim I’m called back to these shores where I explore a new river. Year after year I discover that I, too, have changed.

All of the photographs from this collection are of the same river at different times, seen from sky above.
