A Fine art Collection
By Alexander Rowan
Blackpool Abstracts is a photographic collection by Alexander Rowan, created over fifteen years as an accredited freelance photographer at the Blackpool Dance Festival in England.
At its heart stands the Empress Ballroom of the Winter Gardens - one of the most iconic and storied venues in the history of ballroom dancing whose floor has borne witness to generations of legends from across the globe.
Created in celebration of the Festival’s centenary, these limited-edition works seek to capture not only the magic of the ballroom, but its enduring atmosphere and cultural legacy as one of ballroom dancing’s greatest stages.
Most of all, to celebrate the memory of those who have dared to dream, and dreamed to dance on this hallowed floor.
‘A star danced,
and under that was I born.’
-William Shakespeare
